I cannot believe that Smallville was renewed. I thought that it was going to stop after season 7. I was horribly wrong. This series has been dragging on and on.

I'm actually glad Smallville is continuing with Season 9 as they were just starting to show the interactions of various characters of the other members of Justice League. Perhaps we will finally see Superman fly.

While I'm glad to see Smallville has been renewed, I don't particularly like that the show is moving so slowly, or that they've taken such creative license with the core legend of Superman. I'm hoping that this season rallies, and that we get to see more special effects, including flying (for example, Clark's x-ray vision seems to be a thing of the past, and we've never seen telescopic vision at all.) If this is his transition to Superman, then we should be seeing more and more action, though, if the tights appear, it should definitely be during the last episode of the series.

The writing has also somewhat "boxed in" developments of the show, making it unlikely their going to be able to make this coincide more with the comic during the next year (or more)...

Considering the difficulty with Superman's dual ID on television, they probably need to speed up the whole Clark/Lois relationship development. There's no way he's going to be able to finally appear as Superman without her knowing it's Clark.

Also, since Warner/DC has long put the brakes on Bruce Wayne/Batman stepping up into appearances, it's quite obvious that they're using the "darker" Green Arrow to fill this niche, which is quite a shame...GA's appeal is that he COULD have been Batman, but embraced the "bon vivant" lifestyle for too long, since GA is, at heart, Oliver Queen. (Batman's disguise, however, is Bruce Wayne. Unlike Queen, Wayne only "plays the game" of billionaire playboy as a cover.)

This "Junior Justice League" doesn't work for me, either, though I've always liked this version of The Flash. (In the comics, Bart and Wally have been way more interesting characters than Barry..and I was there from Barry's beginning.) The Justice League isn't really supposed to even know each other until after the first Superman-Batman team up.

Lastly, it's a shame to see the character of the guy that's going to be Superman so weakly written. Superman's appeal has always been that he does the right thing, always and from the start, and isn't constantly wracked with self-doubt and self-recrimination. We see just the opposite in Clark, and it's really past due that he "steps up," especially this coming season when he's at the age where Superman's supposed to make his debut. (First year of post-college...and whatever happened to school, anyway?) I mean, he's ALREADY at the Daily Planet...and Perry's not even there yet.

An exception: I WAS glad to see what they did with "Jimmy" Olsen, however; it made no sense that he could be one of Clark's peers, so it was good to see that the "Jimmy" we're all familiar with (from the comics) turns out to be the little brother.

Overall, I've loved the show...but...it's time to clen up the timeline, and "man-up, and move on moving on."

I watch Smallville and Supernatural on The CW - the only remaining "hold overs" from the old WB it would seem, and thus, the only shows not specifically targeted at teenage girls (and ONLY teenage girls). I could give or take Reaper, so I'm not too upset that that show is gone.

It's a shame that The CW is so hell-bent on driving away any person who is not a teenage girl. They still have close ties with WB and that basically gives them access to the wide world of DC comics. I've LONG hoped to see a Gotham Police Department television show! To me, it is the PERFECT way to bring the Batman franchise to television without actually being all about Batman. They can reference Batman and mention him, but the show could focus on "real" cops in a realistic city that just happens to have a well known vigilante out there. I get SO many ideas whenever I think about a Gotham PD television show, but sadly, it likely wouldn't mesh with The CW's current direction. Maybe WB could pitch it to NBC? Lord knows, they need a hit!

It's a "Cop Show". It's "Batman". What's not to love?
