Anyway, I headed down to Walmart on your [HT Guys] advice and got the Magnavox NB500MGX marked down from $198 to $168 and now $128 at the register.

It said HDMI 1.3a not 1.1 as you had mentioned. Said deep color.

Anyway I took it home and used the disk that the Dolby Guys recommend now as a test: Christ Botti in Boston. Well, the result was essentially perfect on my Sony Bravia via a direct HDMI connect. I could not get the courage up to run it through the amp, but I had just seen the DVD on my PS3 and there is essentially no difference. No pixilation and the sound is remarkable good through the Bravia speakers. So, I think it produces a good output.

Downside, none on 15 minutes of testing, but this might be worth a tweak to your audience.

The following post is a bit off topic for HDTV and Home Theater but it deals with a digital widescreen so its kind of related.

So I bought this frame for my wife’s parents so we could share pictures with them via the Internet. The thought here was that we would post pictures to Picassa or Flickr and have them show up on the frame at my in-law’s. It works and it works well! With that said, setting it up was a bit of a pain. But once you get past connecting to your wifi and upgrading the firmware the rest can be done via setup software on your PC or via a web interface on your Mac.

Slingplayer for the iPhone is now available

I just downloaded the application and will give you my initial impressions later in the day. I'll talk more about it on Friday's show. The application is Wifi only and for some reason I can't get it to go full screen. I need to look into that. There is an option that allows you to listen to the audio only. I wish this was available via 3G then I'd cancel my XM Radio subscription.
